Every morning without fail, the cold’s bite became a little less severe. Every day brought new highs of the temperature with sunny days and warm weather. Just as Winter gave way to spring, the snow and Ice gave way to grass and flowers.

Babydoll and sweetie still slept curled up as close to callie as possible, noses tucked under the blanket and breaths peaceful. However, Callie was sure that more of it had to do with wanting to be close together rather than being forced by the cold.

Despite all the worry the cold and ice had caused, Callie wouldn’t have changed a thing. Meeting Starfarer was a mystical moment that would be engraved in their mind forever. Every sparkle of their alien coat and thousand-voice whisper of a told story were something she could never, ever forget. It was just so… entrancing.

Starfarer was just in need of a home, and seemed heart-wrenched to have caused so many problems in their short stay. But all was easily forgiven.

“Oh..” She murmured, tapping her paw against her chin. “I’ve all but forgotten that Starfarer said she had a gift for me.”

What could the celestial traveler have to give, she wondered. With quiet care, she slipped out of bed and through the door. She just had to figure out what it was, or she wouldn’t be able to get a wink of sleep the next few nights!
