Rex wakes up with a stretch as the sun shines down on him through the blinds. He looks over at his human as he stretches and wakes up. He knows that today is gonna be a full and busy day today, so he quickly gets up after he finishes stretching and makes his way over to his small little dresser. He opens up his dresser with a quick but gentle tug. He looks into the drawer to see an arrangement of hats, scarves, ties, a set of booties, and his favorite brush.
Rex grabs his brush before he happily and quickly trots over to his human companion. Once he reaches her he places down his brush next to her before he nudges her leg with his head. “Wanting to try and look nice for the kiddos today?” She asks him with a giggle. He wiggles happily as he nods his head up at her.
She smiles as she picks him up, starting to gently brush him from ear to tail. As she brushes, she tries to get the dustings of sparkles and glitter out of his fur from the craft projects yesterday. He relaxes happily in her hand as she continues to brush him, almost falling asleep as he does. After a good few minutes of brushing, she places him back down on her bed before smiling down at him.
She gets up and starts to get ready for the day as Rex hops down and makes his way over to her bag, sitting down once he’s next to it. Once she’s ready, she walks over to her bag before she looks down at Rex. “Are you ready for today? I know the kids are gonna be a handful today cause it’s Friday.” She bends down to pick him up as he wiggles excitedly, before placing him gently in her bag with his head just barely poking out.
. She heads out, placing her bag in the passenger seat of her car before she starts to drive off to the nursery/ daycare.
After some time in the car, his human pulls up to the building and gets out. She walks round the car and opens the door to pull Rex out. As they walk in, Rex looks around, taking note of all the colours and letters covering and decorating the walls. She walks into a room and gently places Rex in the center or a round rug.
After a few minutes of his human getting ready she walks up to him. “They should be here soon so let’s get ready for everything today!” She says with excitement in her voice. She quickly walked over to her desk, turning on some age appropriate music and opening up the window blinds.
A few minutes pass by before the first kid arrives. As they enter the room excitedly, they look around for something before their eyes land on Rex. Once they see Rex, they squeal and quickly run over to him in excitement. Rex opens up his paws, ready for a big ol’ hug.
The child picks up Rex, squeezing him tightly with a bear hug before putting him down. “We should play tag!” The little one yelps out in excitement before looking down at Rex. Rex nods which causes the child to start running around the room, laughing happily. Rex starts to chase after them, reaching their paw out every time he gets close.
As time passes, more and more children show up and start to play tag with Rex and the other children as well when they realize what they’re playing. Rex and the children play for what seems like hours before everyone starts tiring out.
After everyone calms down for a few minutes after the game of tag, Rex’s human comes out “It’s time for lunch little ones, come on up!” She pulls out a basket containing little bagged lunches. “I made everyone ham and cheese croissant sandwiches and I even made some pudding for when you’re all done with your sandwiches!” She hands out the lunches one by one to the children.
She picks up Rex and puts him on a little dog bed on her desk. “Get some rest Rex.” She kisses his forehead before she starts handing out the pudding to those who finished their lunches. “When you’re done with lunch, grab your blankets and pillows and get ready for nap time little ones.”
Once everyone was done, the children walked over to their cubbies and grabbed their blankets and pillows before they chose a spot to curl up and start to fall asleep. Rex looks out over the children as they slowly one by one start to fall asleep. Once he knows everyone is asleep and safe, he starts to drift off to sleep himself.
